Native Pokemon Diversity
Cosmar contains many Pokemon, but a lot of Pokemon discovered world-wide do not live here since the environments aren't quite what they'd need to survive, or because of competing species. So, here is a list of what IS available, and what kind of places you can find them in!
Nugget Bay The Nugget Bay stretches from the south-east coast to the south-west coast of Cosmar and encompasses Routes 1 and 6. It is the longest beach in Cosmar, and one of the first things visitors will see from the ocean. The southern waters of the Golden Sea are warmer than the northern half of the region, attracting many tropical deep-sea Water Pokemon. The beach is covered in bright, glittering golden sands, stunning and nearly blinding to look at in the morning light especially.
Available Pokemon: Tentacool, Krabby*, Staryu, Qwilfish, Corsola*, Remoraid, Corphish*, Finneon, Ducklett, Binacle, Skrelp, Arrokuda, Cramorant
Starfall Barrens The Starfall Barrens encompass most of the region, stretching up from where the sand ends in Nugget Bay, over the river, and up to the Kuiper Mountains. This huge area is pock-marked with meteor scars, which seem to fall at least every other night, if not even more often. A lot of Psychic- and Fairy-type Pokemon tend to congregate where meteors have been, attracted to the sites of meteor falls by some unknown power.
Available Pokemon: Diglett, Abra, Geodude, Drowzee, Cubone, Clefairy, Mr. Mime, Togetic, Gligar, Shuckle, Phanpy, Ralts, Makuhita, Nosepass, Aron, Lunatone, Solrock, Beldum, Bronzor, Riolu, Munna, Throh, Sandile, Scraggy, Elgyem, Vullaby, Carbink, Minior, Rolycoly, Cosmarian Voltorb, Cosmarian Mareep, Woolop, Runtsen
Venus Woods The Venus Woods is the larger of Cosmar's two forests. It is a place that feels almost magical, especially deep in a shady green glade. The trees are large and healthy, even near the edges that touch the Starfall Barrens, and the Pokemon that live there are varied and many.
Available Pokemon: Caterpie, Venonat, Bellsprout, Lickitung, Tangela, Kangaskhan, Scyther, Spinarak, Natu, Aipom, Yanma, Pineco, Heracross, Seedot, Burmy, Combee, Stunky, Pansage, Pansear, Panpour, Sewaddle, Venipede, Zorua, Deerling, Scatterbug, Dedenne, Cutiefly, Bounsweet, Rookidee, Hatenna, Cosmarian Hoothoot, Cosmarian Ekans, Spectrosis, Robird
Gemini River The Gemini River stretches from the Western coast to the Eastern coast of Cosmar, splitting the land that contains the Stardust Beach away from the mainland and making it an island. It is populated by many interesting freshwater Pokemon, as well as a few land Pokemon that lay their eggs or find their prey in the water. There are very few other sources of fresh water on Cosmar, but the ones that exist seem to match the Gemini's list of Pokemon.
Available Pokemon: Psyduck, Poliwag, Goldeen, Magikarp, Marill, Wooper, Surskit, Barboach, Feebas, Buizel, Tympole, Clauncher, Wishiwashi, Chewtle
Astral Plains These grassy plains stretch from the West coast of Cosmar to just beyond the edge of the Venus Woods. They are encroached by the Starfall Barrens, but the grass seems to be holding strong as one of the only places left that grows many plants and wildflowers. The Astral Plains are surprisingly peaceful and beautiful.
Available Pokemon: Spearow, Nidoran, Vulpix, Meowth, Doduo, Electabuzz, Tauros, Sentret, Miltank, Snubbull, Skitty, Plusle, Minun, Volbeat, Illumise, Starly, Glameow, Blitzle, Audino, Cottonee, Petilil, Ferroseed, Skiddo, Rockruff, Stufful, Nickit, Wooloo, Cosmarian Pidove, Chinova
Stardust Isle The split in the Gemini River at the Eastern coast of Cosmar creates a river island bordering the ocean only on the East-most side known as Stardust Isle. This island is edged with a beautiful, bright pink beach that is said to have formed from stars that have fallen into the ocean before being washed up on the shores as its signature sands. The saltwater Pokemon appearing here seem to vary greatly from the Pokemon that appear near the other two beaches, puzzling naturalists.
Available Pokemon: Shellder*, Krabby*, Horsea*, Corsola*, Mantine*, Carvanha, Clamperl, Luvdisc, Shellos, Frillish (F), Alomomola, Sandygast*, Pyukumuku, Bruxish, Dorsheal
Comet Beach Contrasting greatly with the Stardust Isle Beach to the East of Cosmar, the Comet Beach on this Western point has sand of a deep and stunning blue color. The myth of this beach is similar to Stardust's own, claiming that the sands came from comets breaking up in the ocean and washing ashore. Just like the other two large beaches, the Pokemon that appear on Comet Beach are mostly unique and different from the Pokemon that appear elsewhere in Cosmar. The northern waters are colder, which accounts for some of the biodiversity.
Available Pokemon: Tentacool, Seel, Shellder*, Horsea, Chinchou, Corsola*, Mantine, Wingull, Wailmer, Corphish*, Spheal, Clamperl, Shellos, Frillish (M), Sandygast*, Dhelmise, Clobbopus, Pincurchin
Kuiper Caves The northern half of Cosmar is covered in a mountain range known as the Kuiper Mountains. These peaks aren't the highest in the world, but beneath them lie the mysterious Kuiper Caves. The biggest entrance is close to Meteora, a little mining town just beneath the base of the range. The caves are numerous and winding, containing many interesting Pokemon that are rarely found elsewhere in Cosmar.
Available Pokemon: Zubat, Paras, Machop, Magnemite, Onix, Rhyhorn, Whismur, Mawile, Meditite, Baltoy, Bagon, Gible, Roggenrola, Timburr, Sawk, Dwebble, Tynamo, Axew, Silicobra, Runtsen
Kuiper Peaks Outside of the Kuiper Caves are the icy peaks of the Kuiper range. Not many Pokemon can stand this harsh, rocky environment or the cold, thin air high above Cosmar, but some Pokemon thrive here.
Available Pokemon: Jynx, Sneasel, Teddiursa, Swinub, Larvitar, Swablu, Absol, Snorunt, Snover, Vanillite, Cryogonal, Rufflet, Snom, Stonjourner, Eiscue, Cosmarian Shinx, Cosmarian Houndour
Supernova Plains The Supernova Plains are a very unique environment to Cosmar, possibly the only one like it in the world. These plains are eternally burning from beneath; the grasses have hardened and turned to shades of brown, orange, and black to adapt to the hotter environment, as well as their burning roots, and small spouts of red flames occasionally burst up from beneath the ground. The soil is of an unusual consistency, loose and dark but seeming to hold warmth even if it leaves the area. Very interesting Pokemon appear to live here, but the area is fairly dangerous due to the flames.
Available Pokemon: Growlithe, Ponyta, Magmar, Slugma, Numel, Darumaka, Druddigon, Larvesta, Litleo, Salandit, Turtonator, Sizzlipede
North Cave The island to the north of Cosmar is split in two with a tiny river of ocean in between. On the smaller island lies Polaris Town, and the larger island houses Mt. Polaris, within which is the North Cave. This cave contains different Pokemon than the caves beneath the mountains on the mainland.
Available Pokemon: Jigglypuff, Tyrogue, Sableye, Spoink, Chimecho, Skorupi, Solosis, Joltik, Klink, Deino, Goomy, Noibat, Jangmo-o
Hunter Woods This spooky forest resides on Orion Isle and is full of interesting wildlife, including many Grass- and Bug- Pokemon that aren't found anywhere else on Cosmar, and quite a few Ghost-types as well.
Available Pokemon: Weedle, Oddish, Mankey, Exeggcute, Pinsir, Ledyba, Murkrow, Misdreavus, Stantler, Poochyena, Wurmple, Nincada, Duskull, Gothita, Litwick, Fletchling, Espurr, Phantump, Grubbin, Fomantis, Applin, Impidimp, Indeedee, Dreepy, Munchworm
Urban Areas Certain Pokemon appear in some of the towns and cities, having decided to live among the buildings and people instead of out in the wild proper. These urban Pokemon are wildly varied, and a lot of them are Pokemon that people typically keep as pets and release when they aren't wanted.
Available Pokemon: Pidgey, Rattata, Zigzagoon, Buneary, Chatot, Lillipup, Purrloin, Trubbish, Minccino, Emolga, Meinfoo, Furfrou, Klefki, Togedemaru, Mimikyu, Yamper, Toxel, Sinistea, Milcery
Ocean Routes There's several routes in Cosmar that must cross the oceans. Not many Pokemon are unique in the deeper parts of the ocean, considering most of them can be easily found on one or more beaches, but there's a few interesting creatures to be found.
Available Pokemon: Lapras, Wailmer, Relicanth, Staryu, Remoraid, Tentacool, Mantine, Seel, Carvanha, Bruxish
